Ανανιας (WH. Ἁνανίας, see their Introductory § 408), Ανανια (but on the genitive cf. Buttmann, 20 (18)), , Ananias (çÂðÇðÀéÈä, from çÈðÇï to be gracious, and éÈäÌ Jehovah (cf. Meyer on Act 5:1)):

1. a certain Christian (at Jerusalem), the husband of Sapphira: Act 5:1-6.

2. a Christian of Damascus: Act 9:10-18; Act 22:12 ff
