II. מַעֲרָב noun [masculine] west (late) (place of sunset); — מִמַּעֲרָבָה ( = בָ֯הּ, compare De Ges § 91 e) Isa 45:6 from its setting-place (opposed to מִמִּזְרַחשֶֿׁמֶשׁ); מַעֲרָב opposed to מִזְרָח also Isa 43:5; Isa 59:19; Ps 103:12; Ps 107:3, so ׳ לַמּ westward 1Chr 7:28; 1Chr 12:16 ( van d. H. v.1Chr 12:15), 1Chr 26:16; 1Chr 26:18 ׳ מ opposed to מוֺצָא Ps 75:7 מִןהַּֿמַּעֲרָב (alone) Dan 8:5 with ה locative מַעֲרָ֑בָה 1Chr 26:30 westward, followed by לְ = to the west of 2Chr 32:30; 2Chr 33:14, לַגִּבְעָה ׳ מִמּ Judg 20:33 according to ᵐ5 (not B ) ᵑ9 Be GFM and others (see [ מַעֲרֶה ]).

1. bare place, or space: construct מִמַּעֲרִהגָּֿ֑בַע Judg 20:33 bare (open) space of Geba' (si vera 1.; but see II. מַעֲרָב ); כְּמַעַראִֿישׁ 1Kgs 7:36 according to the clear space on each (plate, see לוּחַ ).
2. suffix מַעְרֵח Nah 3:5 figurative of Nineveh (pudenda exposed in shameful punishment; compare עֶרְוָה).
