Begin by choosing a literary unit

A guided study begins with a complete thought unit, not a loose verse. Choose a passage below, then the workspace will guide you through Beginner, Standard, or Advanced study.

1. Pray and read

Ask for humility and attention. Read the unit several times before using helps.

Write down: first impressions, repeated words, and questions.

2. Observe before interpreting

Underline repeated words, box connectors, circle subjects and verbs, and mark commands, promises, warnings, contrasts, and questions.

Write down: at least 8-12 observations.

3. Interpret and apply

Ask what the author said, what he meant, how the first hearers would respond, and how this unit fits the book.

Write down: then-and-there meaning, timeless principle, and one action this week.
