Thayer's Greek Lexicon
διαφυλάσσω: 1 aorist infinitive διαφυλάξαι; from Herodotus down; to guard carefully: τινα, Luk 4:10 from Psa 90:11 (). "The seventy chose to employ this term especially of God’s providential care; cf. Gen 28:15; Jos 24:17; Psa 40:3 (). Hence, it came to pass that the later writers at the close of their letters used to write διαφυλαττοι, διαφυλαξοι ὑμᾶς ὁ Θεός, cf. Theodoret. iii., pp. 800, 818, 826 (editions Schulze, Nosselt, etc. Hal.)." Winer’s De verb. comp. etc. Part v., p. 16.
