1. bound to the law; bound by the law: Χριστῷ, or more correctly Χριστοῦ L T Tr WH, 1Co 9:21 (cf. Buttmann, § 132, 23).
2. as in Greek writings from (Pindar), Aeschylus down, lawful, regular: Act 19:39 (on which see Lightfoot in The Contemp. Rev. for 1878, p. 295; Wood, Ephesus etc., Appendix, p. 38).
