ἱερόθυτος, ἱερόθυτόν (from ἱερός and θύω, cf. εἰδωλόθυτος), sacrificed, offered in sacrifice, to the gods; as in Plutarch, symp. 8, 8, 3 at the beginning, used of the flesh of animals offered in sacrifice: 1Co 10:28 L text T Tr WH. On the use of the word in Greek writings cf. Lob. ad Phryn., p. 159.
