1. burial (so from Homer down).
2. a grave, sepulchre (so from Hesiod down): Mat 23:27; Mat 23:29; Mat 27:61; Mat 27:64; Mat 27:66; Mat 28:1; in a comparison: τάφος ἀνεῳγμένος ὁ λάρυγξ αὐτῶν, their speech threatens destruction to others, it is death to someone whenever they open their mouth, Rom 3:13.
